This specific body of work is an intense exploration of containment in a variety of forms. It asks: What does it mean to be contained, and what is the compulsion behind collecting and preservation? A container is not merely a vessel; it is a concept. I explore the desire to capture a subject to observe and marvel at it, and the instinct to contain something to preserve its essence. Most intimately, I look at the body as a container—a fragile, complex shell for thoughts, food, life, memories, and deeply held ideologies. These pieces function as literal and metaphorical containers, trapping a moment, a memory, or a life force for the viewer to contemplate.
