Horn Island, an uninhabited island off the coast of Mississippi, was my home away from home for 11 years. These immersive 10-day trips placed artists and alumni alike from the Memphis College of Art (MCA) in a desolate setting that was inspiring, challenging and wonderful for artistic practice.

I participated in Horn Island shows 25-35 (2009-2019). In 2020, MCA closed its doors after nearly 100 years of fostering regional and national artists. I count myself fortunate to have had the MCA experience I did alongside all the inspiration that Horn Island brought to me.
